Step 1: Before booking travel, check whether you need a visa to enter Spain. If you're unsure, consider booking refundable travel and accommodation to give yourself flexibility.

Step 2: Confirm your passport is valid. To travel into Spain, you will need your passport, and it should be:

  1. Valid for at least three months beyond your departure date from the Schengen area
  2. Issued within the last 10 years from the date you enter

Step 3: Book your visa appointment using the relevant Spain Application Visa center in your area. As soon as you know you're attending MozFest, book your visa appointment. It can take time to secure and may delay your travel plans. For questions or support, contact festival@mozilla.org.

Step 4: Request your visa support letter from us by emailing festival@mozillafoundation.org

Step 5: Stay informed about ETIAS, the new travel authorisation for visa-exempt travellers entering 30 European countries, which will be introduced in the last quarter of 2026. It's not yet clear whether it will apply to our festival dates, so please check before you travel.

We advise you to book your travel and accommodation as soon as possible to take advantage of better rates.

By Air

Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is the city’s main international airport, offering direct flights from major global destinations.

By Train

Spain’s high-speed rail network links Barcelona to major European cities, with direct trains from Paris arriving in 6 and a half hours.

More information on travelling to Spain is available on the Spanish Tourist Board website. You can also find a list of Spanish consulates and embassies on the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, Unión Europea y Cooperación website.

See hotel suggestions below

Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is the main international airport and is around 30–40 minutes from the festival venue depending on traffic and your ground transportation choice.

ATMs and free Wifi are available throughout the terminals. If your phone plan doesn’t cover Spain, SIM card vendors are located in the arrivals area at BCN. You'll need your passport to register a Spanish SIM. eSIMs (Airalo, Holafly, etc.) are a convenient alternative if your phone supports them and have been used successfully by the MozFest team.

Options from airport to in city:

  • Aerobús — an express airport bus to major stops in central Barcelona. Runs every 5–10 minutes and the journey is around 35 minutes. Tickets are available on board, at machines, or in advance online.
  • Metro Line 9 Sud (L9S) — runs directly from the airport (both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have their own metro stations). The general single ticket metro and bus option is not valid for the metro line to El Prat Airport. For this route, a special “Airport Ticket” is required. If you plan to use public transport during your stay in Barcelona, the Hola Barcelona Travel Card is another option. This travel pass has multiple day options that include unlimited travel on all public transport, including the airport metro line.
  • Train (R2 Nord) — runs from Terminal 2 to Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, and Clot stations. Journey is around 25 minutes. A standard train ticket does not include onward travel on the metro or bus in Barcelona. The Hola Barcelona Travel Card is handy for this option as it covers the train, metro, and buses..
  • Taxi — official taxis (black and yellow) wait at clearly marked ranks outside both terminals. A taxi to the city centre is typically €30–40 and most accept card payment. Freenow and Cabify are available app-based ride options. Uber is also available though availability can be limited.

Barcelona has an excellent public transport network covering metro, bus, tram, and suburban rail. The venue is accessible by local train, metro and buses. The closest station is Sant Andreu, served by the L1 (Red Line), R2, R2N, R11 as well as regional services.

Tickets and travel cards

  • T-casual: 10 single rides on metro, bus, tram, and FGC trains within Zone 1 which covers the venue and central Barcelona. This is not valid on airport transfers
  • Hola Barcelona Travel Card: unlimited travel for 2, 3, 4, or 5 consecutive days. Includes airport transfers on the metro

Note that special fares can apply for airport transfers, always check that your ticket is valid before travelling to or from the airport.

Navigation apps

  • TMB App: Barcelona’s official public transport app for live metro, bus, and tram information
  • Citymapper: Real time information and routes for public transport, taxis, cycling and walking across Barcelona

MozFest is meant to be for everyone. We want it to be welcoming, easy to navigate, and as safe as possible for all — across all genders, sexualities, faiths, abilities, and backgrounds. We have been working closely with the venue and our production team to plan for the following:

  • A marked accessible route runs through the venue, avoiding cobblestoned areas. The full route map will be published ahead of the festival. By mobility scooter, the longest journey across the venue takes about 4 minutes, and the nearest metro station is about 3 minutes away.
  • Elevators are available in all main festival buildings and are tested to make sure people using mobility devices can enter and operate them easily.
  • Most restrooms at the venue are gender neutral. Accessible restrooms are also available and will be marked on the venue map.
  • Additional designated spaces are available for specific participant wellbeing needs:
    • A quiet space away from high traffic areas with comfortable seating and designated as fragrance-free
    • A parent / carer space with comfortable seating and changing facilities
    • A multi-faith space for anyone who wishes to observe faith-based customs during the festival
    • A first aid station staffed by trained medical professionals.

A pre-event accessibility guide will be published closer to the festival, with detailed maps, lift locations, water stations, and dedicated space locations.

Before you travel: If you have access needs we should know about or questions you'd like to talk through, please email festival@mozillafoundation.org in advance so we can plan with you.

Our onsite Safety Team will be present throughout the festival. Concerns around Community Participation Guidelines violations can be raised confidentially at any time at our information points or via our support contact number, which will be published closer to the event.

A limited travel fund is available for facilitators whose session proposals are accepted through our Call for Proposals.

We do not offer travel support for general participants or volunteers.

If you have an idea for a session, we encourage you to submit a proposal even if you don't currently have travel funding lined up. Travel support is reviewed as part of the selection process and facilitators who need support can request it through their proposal application.

Please note that funds are limited and support is not guaranteed for every accepted facilitator.

Where we'll be

The Mozilla Festival will take place at the Recinte fabra i Coats, a former textile factory that today is now home to a mix of educational, cultural, social, housing and other organizations.

Fabra i Coats is 5 minutes walk from Sant Andreu metro station on Line 1 (Red Line L1), this takes you directly to all the main sites across the city. It is easy to use, and you can purchase a Hola Barcelona card for the duration of your stay.

Address:
Carrer de Sant Adrià, Sant Andreu, 08030 Barcelona, Spain

Fabra i Coats: brick industrial buildings with a tall chimney and graffiti, under a blue sky.

Where to stay

There's a wide range of accommodation across the city to suit all budgets, but we advise you book early as rates can go up as summer approaches.

We've partnered with a selection of hotels close to the venue to offer Mozilla Festival attendees special rates. Take a look at the participating hotels below:
