Front door cams are all the rage these days. They can catch the bad guy or just your neighbor taking the trash out in his underwear. This weatherproof, always-on, 12x zoom, HD video cam records everything, for better or worse. It has a built-in mic too, so you can talk back to the delivery guy or the neighborhood kid selling candy bars for school. The IQ version even claims it can recognize a familiar face. View, share, and get alerts all from an app on your phone — gives a whole new meaning to the idea of “neighborhood watch.”

Also, Google's own device chief says homeowners should warn guests they are in proximity of a microphone potentially recording your conversations when they visit your home if you own a device like this. We think that is good advice.
